PUBLIC MEETING
The Barren County Land Use Committee will be meeting on Thursday, September 17th, at 6:00 P.M. (CST)/ 7:00 P.M. (EST) in Luska J. Twyman Municipal Building (126 E. Public Sq., City Hall, 2nd floor) Glasgow, Kentucky.
The Joint City-County Planning Commission, pursuant to KRS 100, is designated with this endeavor and as such, would like to provide clarity and transparency during this process. The current DRAFT includes the following language as a foundational guiding principle, although there will be other uses and practices addressed within the proposed ordinance, protecting agriculture uses and lifestyles will remain a primary focus.
- Agriculture, as a way of life, benefits all residents of Barren County. It is an important part of the economy and adds intrinsic value to life in Barren County. Agriculture, as a business, brings with it noise, odors, dust, mud, smoke and other inconveniences such as weed burning, equipment and livestock on public roads, odors from manure and feeds, odors from chemical applications, lights and noises at all hours of the day and night, and on-farm processing and marketing of crops and livestock. To maintain this way of life, Barren County intends to protect agricultural operators from unnecessary, intrusive litigation. Therefore, no inconvenience shall be considered a nuisance as long as it occurs as a part of a legal agricultural practice.
